My 12 day Coffee Detox

My 12 day coffee detox

I would lie if I said it was easy as pie but I was surprised to stick to the plan and didn’t die!! My 10 days without coffee turned out to be 12 days (surprised myself). The first and second day, ok the third day was probably the hardest. I only got a headache once in which I took two advil tablets. During this time thoughts kept on saying “are you crazy, what are you doing without coffee” or “this is a stupid plan” or “just give in to one cup of coffee, no big deal”. The hardest part was trying to fight off my own thoughts…. Do you have days like that!! Well I sure did.

You may ask “why would you do something like this” well I thought I really won’t be able to do without coffee and wanted to challenge myself. Not to sound too spiritual but I did ask God to please help me. In my weakest craving, He came through.

During this time I was talking to a friend that quit smoking for almost 3 to 4 years. But she mentioned she still had cravings, so I asked her, “how do you resist the cravings, what do you do or say to yourself ?”. She laughed and said “ well I realize the craving is for only few seconds and then it leaves. If you can resist that few seconds and distract yourself of doing something else your good to go”. So I applied this plan to my ‘coffee detox’ and yes, it did work. Also I’m used to drinking my coffee early in the morning so during this time I drank hot water, kinda tricking the body of the warmth liquid. And drinking water as soon as you wake up, is a very good and healthy habit. (its a keeper) 😉

What about you, have you tried a challenge in the past or maybe you’re doing one right now? Would love to hear about it!!

Cheers 😀

Sunday March 20th

Taking the first step of change is always the hardest but it must be done. It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon, a bit cooler but the sun is keeping everyone happy and warm. My new venture with health, fitness and motivation. I got hired as a Circuit Coach at a gym in which I’m loving and learning every single day. Leaning about the major muscles in our body and what each machine does, some names such as pectoral, rhomboid, trapezius, latissimus dorsi, tensor fasciae latae and much more. I’m a visual learner so I got the images printed and laminated them to help me retain the information. Almost three weeks into this position, I’ve build great friendships with the members and started to remember their names. As the oldest child, I have that natural ability to coach and have an ear to hear what my members are saying with their words and actions. I truly believe this is a God connection and I’m looking forward to being part of something bigger than what I know right now. Till then stay strong, and stay motivated.Screen Shot 2016-03-20 at 12.44.06 PM

Comparison the deadly pill

Comparison the deadly pill!

The uniqueness of our beauty is put to death when we compare ourselves to another. Our fingerprints and DNA cries out to be different, each one is valued and created marvelously. When we realize this, then the process begins of unwrapping our God given gifts, talents and vision.

I think every time we ignore our self identity and try to copy someone else we lose something precious and the world, our community of influence have lost a special contribution only you and I can give.

Comparison the deadly kill! Strong words I know. But we need to recognize who we are and ‘whose’ we are. God masterfully designed our complex being only to find what our soul was thirsting all this time. A connection with the creator, only then you will know yourself and the worth to be someone else will soon disappear like the morning fog that comes and goes ever so quickly.

Let’s take a risk of stepping out and being true to ourselves and from that truth we can truly inspire others to do the same.

Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 10.10.12 PM DRESSEMBER It’s Bigger Than A Dress

Dressember is a month of wearing dresses for 31 days. Why? You ask…

The core meaning is opposing the worldwide trafficking and exploitation of women. A powerful fundraising campaign, aligned with International Justice Mission, a human rights organization that works to rescue victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.

Why should you care?… well I’m glad you asked. It’s to support and be part of a powerful movement to abolish modern day slavery! The heart of Dressember is “freedom, that every women has the right to live a vibrant and autonomous life”.

Interested? 🙂 check out their website for more information…

I love this time of the year. MERRY CHRISTMAS, MERRY CHRISTMAS, and MERRY CHRITMAS… I understand it’s still November but i’m practicing the good holiday cheers. Today seem to be the best day for going through our Christmas boxes that have been stored away for far too long. I would personally love the experience of going into the woods to choose that special tree, to bring it home and decorate it with beautiful decorations. I love keeping things simple, creative, with that personal unique decoration touch…priceless!

Christmas to me is more than getting and giving gifts, delicious food or being surrounded by lovely decorations.  It’s knowing the meaning and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.  Spending quality and precious time with the people that are dearest to my heart.

Active Listening – Communication

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 2.39.09 PM

Listening is communication. The skill of listening is an art form that can impact on your job effectiveness, and on the quality of your relationship with others.

At this day of age, we have overload of information coming to us from every direction.  Some ways we can be active listeners. Here are some pointers to think about;

Pay attention – giving the other person undivided attention, have eye contact, don’t be in a rush to ask the next question but listen!

Body language – try to nod occasionally, smile, and show it through your posture

Provide feedback – when they have done talking try to reflect what has been said, ask questions, and maybe even summarize what you heard they said

Communication said to be 90% body language, 50% tone of voice and 10%-15% what has been said, that’s why listening is crucial and a skill that can be developed over time and practice

Shake it off

Shake it off, no I’m not referring to the new Taylor Swift’s song but stress-SHAKE IT OFF and how to deal with it.

The last leg of the race in school (4 more weeks) to go and it seems like everything is due tomorrow. Not to mention work, friends, and staying fit and healthy, so today I decided to do some digging around on google and find out what the heck do you do with stress, the right way.

I found a relevant article on stress, and it’s not as hard as it sounds to live a stress free life. Check it out! Some good pointers (

  1. Stop having a pity party and look outside of your-self to encourage someone else through phone, email, text or meet up. Showing compassion and care will take the focus of just me, myself & I attitude
  2. Writing things down. Either of what needs to be down or maybe any hurts or frustrations, and be honest to yourself in how you feel.
  3. Be active! Take a walk, or go to the gym, rather than eat-drink-sleep

The ‘Serenity Prayer’ comes to mind, which would take a load off

“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”

First Snow Fall

January 2014

Let it snow! let it snow! let it snow!

The first snow fall used to be magical but today I woke up, looked outside and emit a long deep breath! I soon realize I would need to start waking up a bit early, clean my car, take time to layer up and give time for slow traffic.

What happened? I grew up?!!

I used to love playing in the snow, go skating or tobogganing and so much more.  I just realized I had become too preoccupied with work and school that I didn’t or choose not to see the beauty of it all.

Nothing to be concerned though, it’s just the beginning of winter, I will come around …hopefully, to enjoy winter, maybe even build a snowman.  So I shall sing, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Lemons into Lemonade

Picture 12

Days can be difficult and somedays it gets even harder and harder to have a glimpse of hope and believe for the present and future. For example like lemons! it can be bitter, sour and an unpleasant taste. But only when the lemon is squeezed mixed with the right ingredients it become a delicious drink for the thirsty soul.

You might have a lemon in front of you but remember its not always going to be like this… ‘this too shall pass’ why not make some lemonade..
